![]() I am disappointed that the captain was not more helpful and informative. The mate did a great job showing us how to hang onto the float in the water. Again, when it was time to reboard, we were hurried and it was difficult to find the rope to grab in the dark and secure your footing. We saw no Manta rays that eve there were many other boats in the area. The Captain proceeded to tell us about his Navy history and past jobs. Boarding the boat had been difficult with the sides being extremely slippery and with rushing, I nearly fell. The captain was obviously annoyed at them but he did so. Her husband requested that the captain return her to shore. Within minutes, the wife of the accompanying couple began to feel sick and was crying. The Captain, Mike, was not all friendly and continued to tell us, hurry, hurry, we have to leave. The first mate, Colin?, was hurrying them and us along stating that the captain said we needed to leave early as the dock space was needed. We had completed our forms in advance with our grown son, but the accompanying couple had not. There was very little parking so my husband parked a distance away and walked back which of course took several minutes. We arrived well in advance of the departure time. When my wife’s sun hat flew off her head into the water on the way back, Ross turned the craft around back to the spot and Seth dove in the water to retrieve it for her! We were very thankful! A fun, great, small sized tour and we highly recommend it! Read more Seth and Ross both provided interesting local history, facts about dolphins and whales and other commentary during this tour. While joying the food and drinks, Ross and Seth conducted a tour of lava tubes and caves along the shoreline on our return back to Keauhou harbor. After coming back to the craft, Seth brought out a tray full of sliced pineapple and oranges as well as snacks like chips, trail mix and other energy snacks. We had up to an hour and a half o enjoy snorkeling. Water flotation vests are provided for those who aren’t strong swimmers and colored flotation noodles provided so the crew can monitor everyone’s location while in the bay, as there were many other snorkelers from other boats in the area. Then it was off to Kealakekua Bay where we stopped to enjoy snorkeling. Then we went further offshore and found a large pod of pilot whales which swim much slower than the spinner dolphins and were amazing to watch as they surfaced and literally stayed almost still on the surface, looking like logs. ![]() We first went offshore to watch a large pod of spinner dolphins. Water and juices are provided and well stocked. Ross briefed us on safety protocols as we went out of the harbor.
